Cluny, Byker March 19th
The up and coming outfit were here to support Wild Beasts on a busy Friday night in Byker. You know you are getting into your late twenties when you see a band modelling themselves on a band from your teen years! The band in question were the Coral. Which is interesting as they have a Britpop legend in the ranks with Simon Tong (The Verve,Blur). The Coral were always an OK band but they were never amazing. It feels like this band are working from the same template.
There is nothing wrong with Erland and they will appeal to younger fans but they don’t offer anything new or exciting. The crowd seemed to really enjoy it and they rocked out to their retro stylings. Their psychedelic, Whicker Man-esque rock could evolve and develop its own identity, only time will tell. Though it is strange how music goes through cycles, I am interested to see the Neo Mansun or Bluetones in the near future, but not a new Northern Uproar!

Live Preview The Other Rooms April 3rd 2010

Since that point, the band have built up their own following. Their electro punk output has found popularity amongst the social networking sites revolution of Facebook and MySpace. Maybe they will have a resurgence of fame and be big on their own merits as they have been on the fringes for too long.
