Primary Colours XL Recordings The fashionista quintet are back. It is the follow up to the debut album,'strange House' which was released in 2007. The second album was made by with Chris Cunningham and Geoff Barrow from Portishead. After moonlighting on spin off projects and appearing the Mighty Boosh. The band are often just seen as a fashionable hipster bunch but their debut album was a good set of songs with a fine armoury of singles. It feels like the band have moved to the next level with this collection, they haven't rushed a follow up like a lot of bands do.
After the shouty retro indie of the original, we are presented with a rounded picture of the band. Highlight of the album is the recent download track, Sea Within A Sea, which is a krautrock epic complete with moody synths straight out of the last Portishead album. It sums up what they are doing on this album, taking risks and pushing boundaries, yet still being commercially accessible. An album to check out, especially if you didn't get them the first time around. Download Sea Within A Sea for Free from www.thehorrors.co.uk
